Room Through the Ages

Enviromental Design

Narrative

Overview

This is a personal project using Isometric - Interiors free on the Epic Marketplace. It is intended to explore how a persons room changes as they age. I'm very happy with how it turned out, working within the limitations of the pack I was using. I think I successfully met my goal.

Very Young

The person starts at a very young age, with their first bed. They simply cannot sleep without their parents reading them a story before bed. Their favourite is 'Pink Paradise' and they often try to get it as a second story after their first has been read.

Growing A Little

Now old enough to have their own TV, they now have less reading time. They are learning to read for themselves though! They're very excited, now they can read 'Pink Paradise' nearly all on their own.

Tween

Now with their own bookshelf they stand, albeit one they have to stand on their desk to reach. They're more interested in watching TV than books lately, although they still buy them often. They have a bad habit of leaving their dishes in their room, much to the consternation of their parents. They really wanted rid of that childish purple carpet, but their parents only let them paint the walls and get new curtains.

The Teenage Years

Gone are the days of watching the TV, hello internet! They grow into their grumpy teen years by getting a PC. They decided their desk did not get enough light where it was, especially since they now spend more time at it. They also no longer need it to reach the shelf. Their bedside table was in the way, so the repurposed it as extra desk space.

Student

They decided to go to university in the same city as their parents live, so there really was no need to move out. And their parents used the money that would have gone on accommodation to finally redo the floor in their room. No more purple. Although they do sometimes wish for their rug back, as old and worn as it had become. They often feel the need to collapse on it after they get home. Stress is stressful. Their friend thinks a plant will help. They remain sceptical. They haven't quite grown yet, however, and they would never admit to their parents about the bottle of cheep wine they keep by their desk.

Young Adult

To save money, they've decided they are never moving out. Their parents are glad for the extra money they bring into the household now they're working full time. They've also managed to get enough money to give their room am makeover. They feel happy.

Adult

They've grown up now, although they still don't feel like they have. Their parents have decided to go traveling for a few years, and see the world. As such, they've decided to move their significant other in, getting a taste for living with them. Their significant other has been enabling their plant habit, growing their collection.
